A confidential space to explore the thoughts, feelings and challenges in your life

Welcome, and thank you for visiting. My name is Antonia and I am a counsellor based in the Borough of Richmond.

About Me

As a qualified Humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor, I offer therapy for adults in the Borough of Richmond and its surrounding areas. My training is in Gestalt, Person-Centred, and Transactional Analysis, which

gives me a range of approaches to work with you, depending on what you need and what feels right for you. I have experience in both short-term and long-term

counselling.

Prior to having set up in private practice, I worked at a busy NHS practice in southwest London, and at the Kingston Women's Centre.

As part of my commitment to ongoing professional development, I am currently undergoing UKCP-accredited advanced psychotherapy training at Metanoia Institute, to further develop and deepen my skills, in order to provide you with the best possible care.

I am a registered member of the BACP and a trainee member of the UKCP, and abide by their Codes of Ethics. I am also fully professionally insured.

My Approach

My practice is grounded in a holistic approach and humanistic principles, meaning I take into account the full range of factors that make up your unique experience, including your thoughts; feelings; past experiences; and current circumstances. I also fully believe in your capacity to make the best choices for yourself and enact positive change when given the right support; this is the essence of 'humanistic' therapy. In practice, this means I use a variety of techniques and methods, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

.I adapt my style to what works best for you, drawing from different therapeutic tools as needed. For instance, we might explore how past experiences influence your present feelings; examine how you relate to yourself and others; or look at practical steps to manage current challenges. The aim is to create a tailored approach that fits your unique situation and supports you to work towards your personal goals.

At the heart of my approach is an open and collaborative way of working that honours your autonomy. I firmly believe that you possess the inner strength and resources needed to put into place the changes that you would like to see in your life; our work together aims to support you in accessing these.

What to Expect

In our sessions, you can expect a confidential, compassionate, and non-judgemental space. I place great importance on building a therapeutic relationship (or ‘working alliance’), as I believe this usually forms the foundation of successful therapy. This means I fully understand the need to build and earn trust first, and that this can take some time. I will therefore always aim to work collaboratively and at a pace that suits you. The space we create together is a collaborative one, grounded in curiosity, care, and honesty. I’ll be alongside you as we explore what is going on for you internally and relationally, whether that’s something happening in the present,

something rooted in the past, or something stuck in between. Our work together will take place in a safe, supportive, and holding environment where we can explore your thoughts and feelings freely.

How I Can Help

Throughout our sessions, I can support you to:

  • Navigate current challenges in your life - whether

emotional, relational, or situational - and begin to make sense

of what might be feeling difficult, stuck, or overwhelming

  • Explore the relationships you have with yourself and others, including any patterns that might be holding you back or

leaving you feeling disconnected

  • Examine ingrained assumptions you may have about yourself, your value, and what may be possible for you; and considering how these might influence your present circumstances
  • Make decisions that align with your values and goals
  • Recognise and develop your inherent capacity for positive change

Session Structure

Sessions will be 50 minutes long, usually on a weekly basis, at £70. My approach tends to be more open-ended, allowing us to work at a pace that suits you. We'll have regular reviews to ensure you're getting what you need from our sessions and to discuss how you feel the work is progressing.

While I often work in the longer-term, my NHS work has been in a time-limited, short-term setting, meaning I can cater for both. We can discuss what timeframe might be most beneficial for you during our initial consultation.

My Location

I am based at the Practice Rooms, both in Richmond and in Twickenham. My rooms in Richmond are just a short walk from the station, right in the heart of town, whereas my Twickenham rooms are in a tranquil setting overlooking Twickenham Green.
